About Highbrook Lodge
Founded in 1928, Highbrook Lodge is the first camp built specially for individuals with vision loss. Since then, we’ve been utilizing the benefits of our natural environment to promote friendship, growth, independence and self-sufficiency through traditional camp activities adapted to the needs of our campers.
“I’ve been a part of Highbrook Lodge for decades. The magic is still there, and it will continue to be there for as long as Highbrook exists.” –Camper Todd Jaffray
We are proud to be accredited by the American Camp Association, the only nationwide organization that accredits all types of organized camps. We provide:
- A licensed medical professional on-site
- Well-balanced meals
- Well maintained property equipped with accessible facilities, guide wire and comfortable sleeping arrangements.
- Pre-employment screenings and extensive trainings for all staff – including first aid, CPR and AED
- A staff to camper ratio of either 2:6 or 2:8, depending on the session.
Mission Statement:
The mission of Highbrook Lodge is to nurture and sustain a vibrant multi-generational camp community that enriches the lives of those living with vision loss or blindness. We aim to use this setting to empower our campers to foster meaningful relationships, increase levels of independence, take risks, and seek adventures within nature.
