Cleveland Sight Center’s Employment Services department focuses solely on the gainful employment of individuals with barriers to employment and establishing partnerships with companies looking for skilled and motivated workers.
The Employment Services department was founded by Clyde E. Williams, Jr. and is maintained through the generosity of The Clyde Williams Foundation, who graduated from law school and became a partner of a major Cleveland law firm, despite his blindness. His legacy is an inspiration to all clients of Cleveland Sight Center and is a reminder that disability need not limit success.
Employment Services practices the evidence-based model of Supported Employment- Individual Placement Support. Supported Employment was developed by Dartmouth College as a means of providing practical vocational training for individuals with “work-limiting disabilities” based on their unique needs. The systematic instruction and support they received in the workplace enabled workers to build their skills, enter the labor market and succeed in long-term employment.
By focusing on abilities and not disabilities, by providing support to the person depending on individual need and by providing advice to employers, Supported Employment has been demonstrated as an effective way for people with disabilities to obtain and keep a job in the competitive labor market. The principles of Supported Employment can be implemented in all types of jobs and in different work environments.
In 2012, Cleveland Sight Center’s Employment Services department was granted the Champion Award from the Center for Evidence Based Practices at Case Western Reserve University for the department’s commitment and fidelity to the Supported Employment- Individual Placement Support Model.
With Cleveland Sight Center, our vocational support services do not stop once a person accepts a job offer. If the requirements of a job change or issues develop that affect performance, we address them with on-the-job support and technical assistance. This level of support has no time-limits. Employment staff can be involved as much or a little as the employer and/or worker prefer.

Job Club is a monthly roundtable discussion among job seekers like you. CSC Employment Services staff members, and sometimes speakers from outside organizations, help the group explore various topics around work and careers. The group also provides support and encouragement as you talk with others who are going through the challenges and successes in the job search process. Ticket to Work
Are you a Social Security Beneficiary seeking employment? CSC is an Employment Network with the Ticket to Work program through the Social Security Administration. Ticket to Work supports career development and financial independence for individuals with disabilities. CSC may be able to provide employment assistance at no cost to you.
