As the demand for the Low Vision Clinic’s services increased, so did the need for new equipment. That’s when two Trustees stepped in to help in a big way! In addition to their active service to the board, this personal gift from one and a family foundation gift from the other, allowed for the purchase of new optometric equipment including an auto refractor, retinal camera and visual field machine. The impact has been significant as CSC’s Low Vision Clinic has improved services to its patients. Through the hiring of another licensed optician to conduct pre-testing with these devices, our doctors can spend more direct time with patients. "In particular, these devices help us to provide a more accurate glasses prescription, follow and diagnose glaucoma at an earlier stage, as well as explain retinal findings in greater detail," says Lidija Balciunas, OD.
