Glaucoma & Vision Screenings for Adults

Cleveland Sight Center offers free glaucoma and vision screenings on the second Thursday of each month, between 9 am and 3 pm at our facility. In addition to our free glaucoma screenings here at Cleveland Sight Center, our staff nurses and volunteers also provide free adult vision and glaucoma screenings at area health fairs and senior centers. For a schedule of these free screenings, please call 216-791-8118, ext. 8741. Email Prevention and Education Nurse

Education/Community Outreach

Our registered nurses and trained volunteers provide public education through easy to relate to talks given in the community on a variety of eye related topics, including the “Aging Eye,” summer eye safety Cleveland Sight Center services and more. This is available to businesses for a small fee, and at no cost to most community events/agencies. Please call 216-791-8118, ext. 4568 to request a speaker. Email Speakers Bureau.

Preschool Vision Screenings

Our Cleveland Sight Center registered nurses and specially trained volunteers are very active throughout the greater Cleveland area as well as adjoining counties, providing vision screenings for preschoolers. Through this important service, we provide early detection of eye and vision related problems. If needed, families are linked to resources to help them obtain eyeglasses for these children. Statistics vary, but between one and 3 youngsters in 100 are found to have amblyopia (lazy eye). Left untreated this eye disorder can result in permanent blindness. Through our Prevention and Education program, children's vision issues are discovered early, allowing treatment, correction and an increased likelihood of success in school. Cleveland Sight Center screens approximately 15,000 Head Start and private program preschoolers per year.
