GIVING

Cleveland Sight Center is a nonprofit, charitable organization under 501(c)(3) tax exempt status. Since 1906, it has been the recipient of financial support from thousands of individuals who wish to help people who are blind or visually impaired maintain their independence. Cleveland Sight Center exists because donors provide the resources to support its interconnected programs and services. Gifts may be made for general support, endowment, or designated for a specific program. There are many ways to help. Financial information provided on the PDFs below is for illustration purposes only.

  • Cash - a gift by check or credit card
  • Pledge - a gift paid over the year (we will send quarterly reminders)
  • Securities - donation of appreciated stock may provide the donor with added tax benefits
  • Real Estate - marketable land or structure is donated and sold
  • Planned Gift - annuities, charitable trusts, bequests, and other estate gifts to secure the continuation of services in the future

Please contact the Development office to discuss how you can help at 216-791-8118, ext. 4583 or toll free at 877-776-9563, ext. 4583. Email Development Office

IRA Rollover Extended

President Bush signed the $700 billion economic bailout bill (H.R. 1424, The Financial Rescue Package), which includes a two year extension of the IRA Rollover provision.

The provision will be made retroactive to January 1, 2008, and will apply to gifts made from that date through December 31, 2009.

The provision exempts from taxable income any funds transferred (“rolled over”) from an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to a charitable organization. The following limitations apply:

  • The donor must be age 70½ or older.
  • The cap on annual IRA rollovers is $100,000.
  • The contribution must be a direct gift to a charity (no planned gifts).
