"To empower people with vision loss to realize their full potential, and to shape the community's vision of that potential.”
Our programs and services are designed to empower our clients to move beyond limitations.

Cleveland Sight Center is a nonprofit agency serving people who are visually impaired or blind across the Northeast Ohio area. Our mission is twofold: independence for our clients; education for the rest of the community.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Your Rights as a Client
Cleveland Sight Center has been serving the needs of people who are blind or visually impaired for more than 100 years. We respect you as a person. Clients of Cleveland Sight Center ALWAYS have the right to:
- Assurance that all information pertaining to your personal records is confidential, and is available ONLY to those who need to know in order to help you
- Request and receive access to any and all information in your personal records
- Contact and speak with your case manager about any issue
Our Responsibilities to our Clients
Your lifelong knowledge of yourself and our century of experience form the basis of a partnership that helps you, this agency and our community. Cleveland Sight Center promises to:
- Assess your vision needs
- Recommend individualized skill building programs
- Suggest ways we believe will improve your abilities and lead to your greater independence
Fees for Services
Whenever a client is able to afford services, we do request fees; however, our fees only cover a portion of the actual cost of providing these services. These fees offset some of our operating costs; however, we rely heavily on financial support from the community.

Our preschool has a sliding fee scale. Most children are enrolled for an entire year; however, arrangements can be made to enroll them less than five days of the week. In school services for our school-age clients should be covered by their local school system. Please contact the corresponding school administrator to access funding.
Limited services are covered by third-party payers, such as Medicare and Medicaid. Case managers are knowledgeable about community resources and will help identify financial assistance for which clients may qualify.
It is only with the generosity of contributors – individuals, families, foundations, grant providers, corporations, and others – that Cleveland Sight Center has historically been able to provide services for everyone who asks, including those who are financially unable to afford the suggested fees.
Financial Contributions
Many people who give to Cleveland Sight Center have received help for themselves or for loved ones, and are now involved as volunteers and as financial supporters. Donations are especially needed to fund vision rehabilitation services, which are not covered by Medicare or Medicaid. To learn more about how you can contribute, please contact the Development Office by calling 216-791-8118, ext. 4561.
